Privacy policy

Return Hydration ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by The Return Group LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

Information you give us directly:

  • Name, shipping and billing address, email address, and phone number when you place an order or sign up for our newsletter
  • Payment information (we use Shopify Payments and other PCI-compliant processors; we never see or store your full card number)
  • SMS opt-in if you sign up for text reminders
  • Survey responses (for example, our hydration quiz)
  • Customer service correspondence

Information collected automatically when you visit returnhydration.com:

  • Your IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages you visit, how you got to our site, and how long you stay
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see "Cookies" below)

Information from third parties:

  • Shipping status from our fulfillment partner
  • Marketing performance data from advertising platforms (Meta, Google) when you click an ad or interact with our content

Why we collect it

  • To fulfill your order: We need your name and address to ship Lemon Drop to you.
  • To communicate with you: Order confirmations, shipping updates, customer service, and marketing emails or texts you've opted into.
  • To improve our products and site: Aggregate analytics help us understand what's working.
  • To prevent fraud and protect the business: Standard security practices.
  • To comply with the law: Tax records, accounting, and other legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share limited data with our advertising platforms (Meta, Google) so we can show you relevant ads — California's privacy laws treat this as "sharing." You can opt out anytime through the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies for three things:

  1. Essential: Cookies that make the site work — your cart, your login, your checkout.
  2. Analytics: Google Analytics and similar tools that show us anonymous usage patterns.
  3. Advertising: Meta Pixel, Google Ads tags, and similar pixels that help us understand if our ads are working and show you relevant content.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will break parts of the site.

Email and SMS marketing

We use Klaviyo to send our marketing emails and texts. When you opt in:

  • You can unsubscribe from emails anytime by clicking the link at the bottom of any email.
  • You can opt out of SMS by replying STOP to any message.
  • Standard message and data rates apply for SMS.

If you opt in to SMS, we'll send a maximum of 5 messages per month. We don't share your phone number with anyone outside our service providers.

Who we share your information with

We share information only with companies that help us run the business:

  • Shopify (e-commerce platform and payments)
  • Klaviyo (email and SMS)
  • Uptime Fulfillment (Draper, Utah — our fulfillment partner)
  • UPS, USPS (shipping carriers)
  • Google, Meta (analytics and advertising)
  • Our accountants and lawyers (when needed)

Each of these is contractually required to handle your data responsibly. We do not sell your data for money. The data we send to Meta and Google for advertising counts as "sharing" under California's privacy laws — use the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer to opt out.

If we are ever required by law to share information with a government authority, we will only share what is legally required.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what we have about you
  • Get a copy of it
  • Correct it
  • Delete it
  • Opt out of marketing communications

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@returnhydration.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and we'll respond within 30 days.

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

You have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

  • The right to know the categories of personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • The right to delete your personal information
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information
  • The right to opt out of the sharing of personal information for targeted advertising — use the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Texas

If you reside in a state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you have similar rights to California residents. Use the same email address above to make a request.

Children

Return Hydration is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please email us and we will delete it.

Data retention

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or as long as required by law (for example, tax records). Account information is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after, in case you return or have a question.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including SSL encryption on every page of our site, PCI-compliant payment processing, and access controls on our internal systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, we'll notify customers by email.

This policy is intended to comply with US privacy laws including CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, UCPA, and TDPSA. We are not currently subject to GDPR because we do not ship to the EU. If our practices change, this policy will be updated.
